MACA Adds Its First Liebherr Dozers With Three PR 776 G8 Machines
Australian mining services provider MACA has welcomed its first Liebherr dozer machines into the fleet. Liebherr-Australia delivered three PR 776 G8 units to the Duketon Gold Project in Western Australia.
Liebherr-Australia commissioned the three dozers on 30 May 2026 at the gold mining operation, which Regis Resources operates. The delivery represents a significant milestone for MACA, a Thiess company. Moreover, it marks the latest development in the contractor’s long-standing relationship with Liebherr.

The PR 776 G8 machines are the first Liebherr dozer models of their type to enter MACA’s mining fleet. MACA will deploy them at Duketon, supporting the contractor’s operations in the Western Australian goldfields.
The partnership is also set to expand during the second half of 2026. Liebherr-Australia is scheduled to deliver two R 9300 mining excavators to MACA. Both will work in the mid-west region of Western Australia.
A Milestone for MACA and Liebherr-Australia
MACA is one of Australia’s leading contractors across the mining, infrastructure and construction industries. Its latest investment adds Liebherr’s flagship mining dozer to the equipment fleet. Equally, it helps the manufacturer increase the presence of its dozer range in the competitive Australian mining market.
“This latest delivery builds on our long-standing relationship with MACA and also represents an important step in increasing the presence of Liebherr dozers in the Australian market,” said Brian Boitano, executive general manager of sales, marketing, training and solutions for Liebherr-Australia.

The arrival of the three machines followed an extensive planning and mobilization process involving Liebherr, MACA and Thiess. With commissioning complete, the dozers are now ready to demonstrate their capabilities in the demanding conditions of the Western Australian mining industry.
Luke Birkett, general manager of assets at MACA, said the delivery strengthened the relationship between the organizations. He also recognized the work the teams did to prepare the machines for site.
“The arrival of the three PR 776 dozers strengthens the partnership between Thiess, MACA and Liebherr,” Birkett said.
“A significant amount of work has gone into planning and delivering a smooth transition to site, and I’d like to acknowledge the efforts of everyone involved.
“Our long-standing partnership with Liebherr has supported projects in Australia and internationally, and we look forward to continuing that relationship into the future.”
Inside the Flagship Liebherr Dozer
Liebherr introduced the PR 776 G8 at MINExpo 2024. It replaced the previous Generation 6 model as Liebherr’s flagship mining dozer.
It remains the world’s largest hydrostatic mining dozer. Liebherr designed it to combine high material-moving performance with reduced fuel consumption. According to the manufacturer, the machine can move more material than others in its class while using less fuel.

At the center of the PR 776 sits Liebherr’s hydrostatic drive system. Rather than relying on a conventional mechanical transmission, the hydrostatic system continuously delivers power to both tracks. Consequently, it supports precise control and strong pushing performance across challenging mining applications.
The Generation 8 machine also features updated electronic architecture. That makes the Liebherr dozer compatible with a wider selection of Liebherr technology products. In turn, it establishes the foundation for further technological developments.
The ability to integrate additional technology matters more and more to mining contractors. Operators want improved equipment monitoring, productivity data and greater control over fleet performance.
Proving the Liebherr Dozer at Duketon
For MACA, the arrival of the three PR 776 G8 machines introduces a new dozer platform to its fleet. Their deployment at Duketon will let the contractor assess productivity, efficiency and reliability in an active gold mining environment.
The delivery also gives Liebherr-Australia an important opportunity. It can showcase its hydrostatic dozer technology in one of the world’s largest and most demanding markets for mining equipment.

Australia’s mining industry needs machinery capable of delivering high availability and productivity across remote and often challenging sites. Strong product support is therefore an important consideration for contractors adding new equipment.
Liebherr-Australia sells and supports machinery across several Liebherr product segments. Those include mining, earthmoving, mobile and crawler cranes, maritime cranes, tower cranes and components.
The company operates through 23 branches across Australia and New Zealand, and a workforce of roughly 1,800 people supports them. Furthermore, Liebherr-Australia is involved in technology developments intended to support low- and zero-emission initiatives across heavy industries.
R 9300 Excavators to Follow the Liebherr Dozer Order
The three PR 776 G8 machines will not be the only Liebherr mining equipment joining MACA’s fleet during 2026.
Liebherr-Australia will deliver two R 9300 mining excavators in the second half of the year. Both 250-tonne-class machines will work in the mid-west region of Western Australia.
The R 9300 forms part of Liebherr’s hydraulic mining excavator range. Liebherr developed it for high-production mining and large-scale excavation applications.
The arrival of the two excavators will further expand Liebherr’s presence within MACA’s fleet. Notably, it indicates that the partnership extends well beyond a single dozer order.
“Both the PR 776 G8s and R 9300s have shown huge advantage to Liebherr customers worldwide, and I’m excited to see the positive impact these machines will have on the MACA operations,” Boitano said.
What the Order Signals
The investment reflects continued demand from Australian mining contractors. They want large equipment capable of supporting high-volume operations while controlling fuel consumption and operating costs.
The deal also gives MACA access to two of Liebherr’s latest mining equipment platforms, alongside the Liebherr dozer fleet it has just gained. The contractor continues to support major resource projects across Australia.
For Liebherr, the order represents another step toward growing its mining dozer population in Australia. Above all, it strengthens the relationship with one of the country’s leading mining services providers.
The three machines now sit at the Duketon Gold Project. Plenty of people will watch how the Liebherr dozer performs in the Western Australian goldfields.
Two R 9300 excavators arrive before the end of 2026. Liebherr equipment will therefore take up more of MACA’s mining fleet over the coming months.
