Volvo L110H and L120H Get Major Upgrades

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has unveiled significant upgrades for their L110H and L120H wheel loaders, two stalwarts in the construction, mining, and earthmoving sectors. These 20-ton machines, known for their versatility and reliability, now boast enhanced engines, advanced electronics, and improved maintenance features, promising increased performance and uptime for the next decade.

On-the-Go Regeneration

The highlight of the upgrade is a new Volvo engine that regenerates automatically while working, eliminating the need for downtime. This technology, proven in larger wheel loaders, enhances productivity and fuel efficiency. The new engine also includes an electric pump for faster and more convenient fuel system priming, and improved captive fuel filters that extend service intervals to 1,000 hours.

Upgraded Electrics

The L110H and L120H now feature a new ignition strategy inspired by Volvo’s articulated haulers. Operators can now activate the machine with the ignition key without using the ground-level Main Switch, streamlining startup and shutdown processes. This feature prevents battery drain overnight and enhances operator convenience.

Additionally, a lockout-tagout (LOTO) feature is introduced, making maintenance safer by locking the battery disconnect switch in the OFF position, preventing any unexpected energy release.

Enhanced Productivity and Convenience

These upgrades are built on the solid foundation that has made the L110H and L120H popular for over a decade. With a range of attachments, including 3.0-3.6m³ rehandling buckets, these wheel loaders are designed for maximum productivity and operator comfort.

The L110H and L120H join a comprehensive lineup of Volvo wheel loaders, from the compact 4.5-ton L20 Electric to the heavy-duty 50-ton L350H.
