New Cat® Hydraulic Connecting CW couplers for excavators deliver fast and safe attachment changes with less spillage

Caterpillar has unveiled three innovative Cat® Hydraulic Connecting CW (HCCW) coupler models, designed to transform the way operators manage hydraulic attachments on their excavators. These advanced quick couplers integrate seamlessly with the machine’s hydraulics, allowing operators to switch attachments swiftly and safely from the cab, maximizing productivity and minimizing downtime.

Efficient Attachment Swaps

The HCCW couplers are compatible with any Cat hydraulic attachment, facilitating rapid changes that enable operators to select the ideal tool for each task. This versatility enhances overall productivity and tool utilization. The HCCW’s hydraulic connecting interface saves valuable time compared to traditional static couplers or pin-on attachments, leveraging the proven durability of the CW coupler platform to keep costs low.

Versatile Models for Diverse Needs

The newly introduced HCCW20, HCCW30, and HCCW40 quick couplers cater to tool carrier capacities ranging from 7.5 to 27 tons, each boasting a standard 10-ton lift capacity. The exclusive Locking Control System, featuring sensor technology, measures locking wedge positions and indicates coupling status to the operator. Compliant with the European EN474 standard, the system includes multiple electronic and mechanical measures to secure attachments even if pressure is lost. Operators receive visual and audible confirmations inside the cab, ensuring successful attachment connections.

Enhanced Hydraulic Performance

Designed for superior hydraulic flow, the new couplers minimize hydraulic restriction, reducing heat build-up and conserving engine power. The high-flow performance design ensures hydromechanical attachments operate at full capability with limited back pressure. Reliable hydraulic fluid connections prevent spills during attachment changes, and the quick-disconnect design extends the lifespan and eases maintenance.

Seamless Integration with Existing Equipment

Customers with existing Cat excavator fleets using CW hinges can effortlessly transition to the new HCCW quick couplers without retrofitting their machines. Fabricated tools such as buckets can switch between existing CW and new HCCW couplers. Additionally, new Hydraulic Coupling (HC) brackets enable the use of existing hydromechanical tools like shears, hammers, and grapples with the HCCW.

Durability and Cost Reduction

Internally routed hoses in the coupler and bracket shield against damage, reducing overall hose and repair costs. The trusted quick-coupler platform now features durable, high-performing quick disconnects in the coupler and attachment bracket. The cover lid and sealing offer added protection for couplings, preventing hydraulic system contamination.
