Caterpillar launches smarter articulated trucks with enhanced safety and efficiency
IRVING, Texas, September 19, 2025, Caterpillar has revealed its next generation Cat® articulated trucks, including the 725, 730, 730 EJ and 735 models, redesigned to deliver smarter automation, stronger performance, and enhanced safety.
The upgraded machines introduce a suite of assisted and automatic features, including the new Auto Wait Brake (AWB) for improved control during short stops, and Dynamic Rollover Protection, which actively monitors for high lateral acceleration and warns operators of potential rollover risks.
Inside, operators benefit from a modernised cab design with all functions accessible via a touchscreen interface, keypad, or jog dial, plus push-to-start ignition with operator ID storage for up to 50 users.

Powertrain performance
The Cat C13B engine powers the 725 with an improved power-to-weight ratio, delivering up to 14% greater efficiency than previous Tier 4 Final models. Across the range, the Cat C13 engine produces between 257–316 kW (345–424 hp), meeting Tier 4 Final, EU Stage V, Japan 2014, and Korea Stage V standards.
Automatic traction control, engine overspeed protection, and Automatic Retarder Control (ARC) enhance handling in poor underfoot conditions, while machine speed limiting helps maintain safe operation in restricted sites.
Payload and body design
The 725, 730, and 735 models feature a newly designed dump body with easier loading, improved payload efficiency, and reduced material carryback thanks to a rerouted exhaust heat system.
Integrated payload monitoring provides real-time load weights via the display, with external indicator lights for loader operators.
For specialised applications, the Cat 730 EJ ejector truck allows material discharge without raising the bed, ideal for landfills, underground operations, or low-clearance sites, while also enabling material spreading on the move to reduce secondary dozing needs.
Built-in safety systems
Key new features include:
- Dynamic Rollover Protection, reducing rollover risk during high-speed cornering.
- Stability Assist, preventing hoisting on uneven terrain.
- Auto Wait Brake, applying service brakes automatically at standstill and reducing fuel use.
- Configurable dump body height limit, preventing contact with overhead obstacles and improving cycle times.
- Optional multiview camera and object detection system, offering radar alerts and four configurable camera angles.
Operator coaching and technology integration
Caterpillar has added Operator Coaching, an interactive tool that monitors 14 operator behaviours and provides real-time feedback, animated tutorials, and fleet-wide reporting via GPS mapping.
Optional VisionLink® integration reports rollover prevention events and machine data, supporting safer fleet management.
Continuing a legacy of innovation
Caterpillar has produced articulated trucks since 1985 at its Peterlee, U.K. facility, with continuous improvements in capacity, safety, and operator comfort. In 2018, the company celebrated its 50,000th articulated truck milestone.
Production of the new generation Cat articulated trucks will begin in January 2026, starting with the Cat 730.
